Baptism and Krause Shower
Today was the baptism. I had an extremely long night, not because of Dade. I woke up around 1 or so with a really upset stomach and feeling crappy. Clint, bless his heart, took care of Dade all night because I was in no shape to do it. I slept until after 7 and then got up. I tried to eat breakfast however that didn't really settle either. Barb had some meds to help with my stomach so I took that and pushed through the day. Everything went really well. The baptism, the pictures afterwards, and the lunch. The food was amazing. My parents and Barb did a lot of work getting everything put together and it was obvious the we had plenty of food. I think we had 20lbs of ham and 18lbs of smoked brisket (which was absolutely amazing!).
After we got the car loaded me feeling crappy caught up with me and I was miserable again. Our buddy Scott came back to Lee's Summit with us, so he could have more cuddle time with Dade. I promptly went to bed and got up about 7. Dade is sleeping right now, and I'm staring at a bunch of things that need to be put somewhere in Dade's room. Not sure where though! Clint went to iHop to do a few hours of work. The nap helped a bit but I still feel bad. Tomorrow (weather pending) Clint is supposed to go to Springfield to help Aaron bring some stuff up to his need apartment. I vaguely remember Aaron calling me earlier while I was sleeping, but I'm not sure of the exact conversation.
I'm going to take some Sinus medicine and lie back down. Nothing like having sinus problems on top of a stomach ache.

Tattoo

It's the Celtic trinity with Clint's birth flower at the top (Iris) and Dade's birth flower at the bottom left (again Iris). Notice that the bottom right is empty. The place is reserved for the birth flower of our next child.
I think that I'm going to have it on my right shoulder. It's unique to me, and I love it!
Now I just wait until Clint is ready and we have the money for both.
Crib Time
My brother and sister-in-law stopped by this morning to see the nursery and to see Dade. My brother is really good with him, and so is Marci. I know what I'm going to get for her baby shower next month. All I can say is SUPER CUTE and EXCITING!
This is the first Friday that Dade and I have been home since he's been born, however we are leaving for Knob in the morning. Going to try and leave by 10. The shower is at 2 and I have to go by my mom's first then unload the car at Barb's before the shower.
Well, I better go figure out something for dinner. I'm starving and I know Clint will be when he gets home from the library.

11lbs 2oz
The doctor says he's got some sort of little bug. No fever, and he's still eating just pooping alot. We are putting on butt paste to help his little bottom. I feel sorry for the little one.
I'm not feeling well either. Going to go to bed as soon as Clint gets home.
3am - 9am
It looks like it could rain at any minute, but the radar on weather.com doesn't show anything. I want to open my house and let the fresh air in. I've only been able to do that a few times the past few weeks. Hopefully April will allow me to do that more often. I'm tried of paying high electric and gas bills.
We have another big weekend. Seems like March has been filled with big weekends. This weekend is the Krause family baby shower. We, my mother-in-law and I, decided to wait and have it after Dade was born. This way the Aunts from Sweet Springs would be able to see him. That's on Saturday. On Sunday is his baptism. He's got the cutest satin romper suit with matching socks and shoes to wear. I know it's about him being baptized and not what he's wearing, but it's super cute. My brother and sister-in-law picked it out because the JC Penney's here in the city didn't have any in 0-3 months, but the one in Columbia did. Our good friend Scott is going to be in Knob this weekend for the baptism, so Clint will get some time with him as well. He and his wife and working on getting Dade a girlfriend. Scott and Sarah are already like family, this would only make it official.
I'm started to like staying at home. Call me crazy, but I like having the house picked up and me doing some actual cooking instead of us going out all the time. The lack of financial resources has made us stay home to eat, but I'm cooking again and that's all that matters. I've got about a dozen bananas in my freezer that will be made into banana bread within the next few days. My mom found the amazing moist recipe and sent it to me. YEAH FOR YUMMY BREAD.
I better go get my diaper bag ready and finish getting ready myself if we are going to make it to the doctor's on time. I'll update later on Dade.
Enjoy the picture!!

Relief
Tomorrow our Parent's as Teacher's person is coming at 9am. I'm excited to see what she has us do. I might actually get to be here for the second visit since I'm not going back to work until the 21st of April.
We went to the school today. That was crazy. Every time I turned around someone was there wanting to see the baby. Had a discussion with my kiddos about their behavior and how even though I'm not there I know what's been going on. Hopefully that will straighten them out. I brought home some books to work on two units for when I go back to work. Poetry and Human Body. I'll make it fun!
Oh man. My head is pounding. Time to get off this computer.

Happiest Baby on the Block
Our Parents as Teachers lady let us borrow the DVD when she was here in early Feb. It's been sitting on our steps since then. I remembered that she was going to be here on Wednesday so I thought it would be wise to watch it. I'm glad that I did. And so is Clint. The 5 "S": Swaddle, Side/Stomach, SHHHH, Swing, Suck.
We've been swaddling Dade (but not when he's fussy that's the key), we do put him on his side and he calms down somewhat quickly, and we give him a pacifier. The whole SHHHH, and swing thing was new to us. How convenient that Dade was fussy during the DVD, because we did the 5 "S"s while we watched, and he calmed down almost instantly. CRAZY!!!!!
We got a swing this weekend. The guy in the DVD talked about the "proper" way to use a swing. Dade has been sleeping in his swing now for over 2 hours. The Dr. in the video stated that if you do the 5 "S"s, you're baby can go from sleeping 2 hours at a time to sleeping 5+ hours. It just takes practice from the parents to know the "spot" for their baby. True we get lucky at times and Dade will sleep a max of 4 hours at a time, but getting him to sleep a whole night through early on would be blissful.
I made No Bake Cookies a little bit ago, they are yummy. Time to relax on the couch while Dade sleeps in the swing.

Easter Bunny and Wisdom Teeth
The picture says it all. At least in my view. Obviously I had his picture taken with the Easter Bunny this past weekend. I've got another picture of him with the Easter Bunny, it's a closer version. Dade was really fussy this past weekend. Starting about Thursday of last week he started being rather gassy and fussy shortly after we fed him. After discussing things with the doctor, we tried gas relief drops. That helped a bit, but not a whole lot. Yesterday I called the doctor again, and explained how he was over the weekend, and we decided to change his formula. It has helped. He's still fussy, but not as much as he was before.
Clint had his wisdom teeth removed this morning. He's doing better then I thought he would. I've made him milk shakes, given him applesauce, and just finished making pudding. In fact I'm going to give him some of that pudding as soon as I finish this blog.
We are spending the holiday weekend in Knob. Staying at my parents' house. My brother and sister-in-law are coming Saturday, should be a fun weekend. Sunday is with Clint's family. Hello Easter!!!

Early Morning Movie
Dade is having a good time right now, despite the hiccups. I have a doctor's appointment with my OB later this afternoon. She's going to be checking my incision to make sure that everything looks okay, then I'll have one final appointment with her on the 18th of April.
We have a secret weapon when it comes to calming Dade down. It's the weirdest thing, but what ever works right. Those of you that were at my wedding and were there for the majority of it might remember a dance that we all did to this Arabic song. Recently, Noah find the music video (again) on YouTube and put it up. The other day when Clint was sick I was really tired and Dade was extremely fussy. I needed something to make me laugh at this point, so I pulled up that video. The minute that music started Dade instantly stopped being fussy and started smiling. We danced in our seat on the couch. Now whenever he starts to get fussy we pull up that video and do a little dance. I need to make a short video of us dancing in our seats. Here's a link to the Tunak Tunak Tun music video.
By the way, I up loaded all the pictures that I had taken as of yesterday into my web gallery. I'm sure there will be more since I'm going home this weekend. Dade's going to see the Easter Bunny this weekend. I'll have pictures of that too!

Busy Day
Of course I have pictures from our first walk, need to upload them. We actually got home just in time. As soon as Dade and Slinky were both in the house there was a clap of thunder.
Dade LOVES his gym that we bought him. Again, I have pictures of him playing as well as a video. I'll upload them after dinner.
I like the new layout of the living room. All we did was move a bookshelf and the TV, but man did it open up the space. It's amazing how moving just one simple thing will do that.
I've got dinner in the oven (yep I cooked twice today), and I need to check the laundry downstairs. Clint's on diaper changing duty, at the moment, so I've can go check everything.
Promise, I'll get the pictures uploaded ASAP!
Laundry Ahoy!

No Burp Rag Big Enough. . .
The doctor's appointment went well. He now weighs 9lbs 5ozs (yes, he's a growing boy), and is 22 inches long. I believe his head measure at 34cm. The doctor (Trites), said that he was doing really well. Obviously, he's gaining weight like non-other. He goes back when he's two months. That's when he gets his shots. I feel bad, because Clint will have to take him without me. I know he's not going to be a happy baby when he leaves the office that day. We know that Dade has a healthy "stream" of pee. He decided to pee not once, not twice, but three times today at the office. Of course it was his response to get warm. He was naked on the table. I saw it coming to, that's the funny thing. I just held me hand over the top of him so that it wouldn't arch to his face. Of course add something wet to being cold, and that just adds to an even unhappier baby. The nurse cleaned up the table while he was on the scale, but oh no, he had to mark that spot too, because again with the peeing. Again I just held my hand over the top of him. Clint just laughed and handed me baby wipes to clean up. He was happy to get a diaper on and be held close to me until the doctor came in.
He's been a bit on the fussy side today. Wants to be held all the time. Which I can understand, but at the same time he has to learn to sleep somewhere besides my arms or anyone's arms for that matter. He's in a light sleep right now. Hoping that he wakes up soon though so that I can keep him awake until 10 or so. If I can do that then he'll sleep until 2 (fingers crossed). This morning we slept until 7 after going to sleep around 2:30.
I set up the little play gym that we got him this afternoon. I took so pictures of him lying underneath the toys, plus a video. I've uploaded them to my Picaso Web Gallery. If you look on my link section I've added a link to my gallery. Check it often, because I take LOTS of pictures of my handsome man.
That's all for now!

Much Needed Adult Contact
I should just leave this post as that. I never realized how much freedom one gets from driving. That is until is taken away from you. The fact that I can't drive for another week or so frustrates me to no end. Tuesday night Aaron had to go get me dinner, and tonight Amy got me dinner. I'm a driver, not a passenger. I prefer to drive, just do. Plain and simple. I should put a countdown to when I can drive. LOL
Okay, back to my topic of this post. ADULT CONTACT! It's not like I haven't been around adults, because last time I checked, Clint is an adult, but not being able to leave the house has limited who I come in contact with. I'm actually jealous of Clint right now because he had class Tuesday night, and tonight is his weekly gaming night with some fellows in KC. I know how important it is to be able to have someone that you can relax with after spending the day with a fussy newborn. Tonight, Amy was my savior. She came over between 6 and 6:30, we ordered dinner, tried to watch a movie, got side-tracked by talking, and before we knew it, it was after 10. Oh man, did I need that. Of course I was taking care of Dade during that time frame too, but being able to be a girl and giggle and laugh, and what not helped out a lot. I was feeling extremely stressed out and tired after last night, and slightly sad that Clint was going to be gone again tonight, that having her come over was the best prescription that anyone could have given me.
I'm going to be going to Knob tomorrow afternoon. My dad is picking up myself and Dade after he gets done with school. Clint's nephew is in the Mr. Panther Contest tomorrow night, so I really want to see that. Again it will give me time out of the house (otherwise known as my prison), and a little bit of a baby break. Since I'll be with Clint's family, they'll want to hold him and what not. That's a good thing about having family so close. They all want to hold him, snuggle him, etc. . . Saturday night we have a Krause Cousin thing at his brother's house. I'm really looking forward to that because it's been awhile since we've been able to attend a Cousin gathering. They are always so much fun!
I really badly want to get a new digital camera. My parents got a new one, and it's amazing. Now, don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the one that we have. It works just great. But, it's several years old, and the picture quality just isn't what I would like. It was great when we were taking pictures of Slinky, or ourselves and our friends. But I want my pictures of Dadey Baby to be amazing. After using mom and dad's camera all weekend, and Amy's while we were in the hospital (b/c we couldn't find ours), my pictures look crappy. Amy had a good idea. She said to take my SLR Nikon that I have to a pawn shop and see what I could get for it, as well as the digital that I currently have. I love my SLR but I don't use it very often because let's face it, who wants to use actual film and wait until it developed to see what the picture looks like. It's all about instant gratification right!
I know that I should be tired. I'm literally running off of like 4 hours of sleep if that, but after having Ames here I'm wide awake. This could be a bad thing, since I'm wide awake now and Dade's sleeping. For some reason I can't seem to sleep when he sleeps. I tend to use that time to get stuff around the house done. Towels, washing bottles, etc. . .
My back started bothering me tonight. I had not taken any of my pain meds today. Was trying to get myself off them. But then my back start spazzing and I had to pass Dade to Amy because it hurt to hold him. I took my pain meds and within 30 minutes I felt much better. It sucks because I'll be feeling fine one minute and then something will hurt the next. Amy said I'm doing to much, and she's not the only one to tell me that. I'm sure that I am, but I'm not the type of person to just sit around and do nothing. I know what my doctors told me, what the birth class teacher told me, but I can't do it. I don't like letting people do things for me, when I know that I can do them. I get that from my grandfather!
Oh bottle making time!

My Booger Bear
We gave Dade a sponge bath today. It was the first time we have given him a bath. The hospital gave him one after he was born. Amy was here, so she took pictures. Poor little guy was cold and scared during the whole thing. He cried while we were washing him up. Once we got him wrapped in his hooded towel, he was peachy. I think he really enjoyed having his hair washed. He actually was trying to grin at us during that part of the bath. I fully expected him to pee/poop during bath time, but he surprised me. He didn't. Clint picked out his outfit today. I bought a bunch of newborn outfits the other day at wal-mart. I know that he's going to grow out of the quickly, but he is slightly too small for the 0-3 month outfits. I say in another week or so, he'll be wearing them.
His umbilical cord looks like it's about to fall off. The doctor on Monday told us what to look for, and what not to freak out about. I really like the pediatrician's office that we picked out. I was nervous about finding one, because we didn't know where to go, but mom's boss helped us out and talked to one of her friends that lives up here. Our ped's office has urgent care everyday, which is nice because our urgent care co-pay is only $30, vs. the $100 ER co-pay.
I'll be uploading the pictures from our sponge bath today to my gmail account sometime today. I'll post a link to the albums in a different post.
Time to hold my booger bear!

Finally Home
Yesterday we went to the pediatrician. As of yesterday Dade weighed 8lbs 8oz and 20.75 inches long. Even though he's 1.5 oz over his birth weight, he's gained a lot since we were discharged Friday. He eats about every 2.5 hours. Sometimes its 2 oz. sometimes its 3 oz. Just depends. Last night was a long night. He was up about every two hours or so. Right now he's lying next to me staring at me while I type.
I had not been using the sleep positioner that my mom got for us, until last night. Normally he stretches out and doesn't move. However last night, he rolled onto his right side. As excited that I was that he rolled to his side, I grabbed the positioner, and promptly put him in it. He seemed to like it, because it was snug. He seems to like his little chair that his GG "Great Grandma" gave him. It vibrates and plays music.
Well, I'd like to continue this post, but someone just made a really stinky diaper, so I better go take care of that!
