Views on a Higher Power

My friends are having an interesting discussion on religion. I myself believe that yes a high power is there, however it might not be the God that everyong else believes is there. Feel free to read what my friends have said, here's the link...

I personally used to be extremely religious. I was highly involved in my church, which I know live across the street from. I was in charge of our Youth Group my senior year in high school. As well as was the leader in our church's puppet ministry. I was dedicated to say the least. I had to have surgery because of the puppet ministry, even after my doctors said not to do it anymore, I believed that this was my way of helping God in his quest to convert people.

My eyes opened when I saw people in my church treating the Preacher with disrespect, and going behind backs trying to get the Preacher removed. This not only happened, once, twice, but three times. To three different Preachers. One of which was my good friend's dad. I couldn't believe that people that called themselves Christians would do that to someone who preached their god's words. I was very upset, and at the same time having issues of my own faith seeing this happen.

Like I said earlier I believe that a higher power is there, however I believe they don't intervene. I believe in Karma, you get what you deserve basically. I still get some things out of going to church when I do go. It's nice to be in a church that has nice people. My mother-in-law's church for example is tiny... and you can tell that people there truly believe in their faith. The preacher there is amazing... Not being a true Christain myself anymore, but you can feel that something is there in that church.

To me being religious is something that is different for every person. It doesn't matter what you've been taught as a child, you come to form your own conclusions about your own personal beliefs.
